Michael J. Petrus is an Associate Attorney at Kirk, Huth, Lange & Badalamenti, PLC. He graduated from West Bloomfield High School before attending Oakland University, where he obtained a Bachelors of Science in Accounting. In 2020, he received a Juris Doctor from the University of Detroit Mercy. He graduated law school cum laude, on the Dean's List, and in the top 15% of his class. He was also awarded the Dean's Scholarship for Excellence and received a CALI Excellence for the Future Award for obtaining the highest grade in his studies of Advanced Advocacy.
Mr. Petrus joined the firm as a law clerk in 2019 and was offered an associate attorney position upon graduation. His practice includes all aspects of general civil litigation, commercial business litigation, and municipal/governmental litigation in state and federal courts. This most often includes representing clients in cases involving breach of contract, shareholder/member disputes, quiet title actions to determine interests in property, real estate sellers and purchasers regarding their transactional needs, including Medical Marijuana Compliance. Michael will go above and beyond to ensure that his clients obtain the best possible results in any given matter.
Mr. Petrus is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, a member of the Oakland County Bar Association, and has been admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. He is currently a member of the Business law, Intellectual Property law, Real Property law, Probate & Estate Planning, Labor & Employment law, Cannabis law, Negligence law and Young Lawyers Sections of the State Bar of Michigan.
Mr. Petrus and his wife live in Oakland County, Michigan. In his spare time, Michael enjoys football, basketball, hiking and watching his favorite sports teams, the Detroit Lions and the Detroit Pistons.
