Muer Name May Still Be Used For Planned Clinton Township Seafood Restaurant

The team planning to open a seafood restaurant for the Mall at Partridge Creek in Clinton Township still hopes to use the Muer family name as part of the title, according to their attorney.

Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Kathryn A. Viviano last week ruled the operators of the planned Muer Table + Bar cannot use the family name, but the group's attorney issued a statement Tuesday saying more dialogue is needed.

'We will seek clarification from Judge Viviano (Tuesday) that David Muer can use his own name in connection with the restaurant, as he had with his previous restaurant,' Frank said in the statement. 'Nothing in trademark law prevents him from using his full name as long as he is not seeking to confuse consumers.'
